Brendan McDowell

McDowell (Trassey Road, Kilcoo) Brendan died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald 25th October 2024.

Dearly loved husband of Laura and devoted father of Pierce and Eibhleann, son of the late Frank and Madge McDowell and brother of Mairead, Bernadette and Oliver.

Brendan’s remains will be reposing in M.J. Sawey & Sons Funeral Home 9 Bryansford Avenue, Newcastle BT33 OAX, with wake visiting times 6pm - 9pm this evening (Saturday) and 11am - 1.30pm Sunday.
Brendan’s remains will be arriving at St. Malachy’s Church, Kilcoo at 3pm where you can also pay your respects until 5pm.
Requiem Mass on Monday at 10am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by his entire family circle.

Brendan, You were the one that let me stay at your place when Dazzler brought me there. You didn't even know me but you took me in with that big warm smile and humour. We all went to that family owned Italian restaurant where the father sang opera. When I asked him to sing my dad's favourite song Nessun Dorma he said he will but "I singa for you later" he said whilst looking at me and pouring my wine with the bottle completely upside down and not spilling a drop. We ate, laughed and drank. The father came and sang the song. We were all happy and these are the memories I keep and cherish with you there laughing and being a good person to me. Thank you.
