Latest Sympathy Notices

Dear Nuala, my brother informed me tonight that Michael had died. I met Michael in 1973 when we became two of the most eccentric road sweepers that Portstewart had ever seen. This included a frantic sweeper dance which we performed most mornings outside the Montague wearing thigh waders and clashing our brushes. It was a memorable summer before we went back to our respective universities. Michael came to stay with my wife and I when we lived in Coventry. John Cooke, who returned to Portstewart, was also staying with Georgia and I at that time. A good night was had. I called on you and Michael some years later at your house in Heathmount and enjoyed a convivial couple of hours, probably boring you, as we reminisced over the summer of 73. Michael was a gentleman even in those halcyon days, and introduced me to the joys of Gilbert and Sullivan. The world has lost a precious part of my late youth. I miss his memory.
Regrets and condolences,

Dear Nuala. Florence and I are currently in Australia until early February. We were both very shocked and saddened to hear about Mike’s death. He was the first friend I made at Queen’s when we started in 1970. A true and loyal friend for all those years. He was an excellent and dedicated radiologist. Our wedding anniversary dinner last August, 50 years on since Mike was our best man is a lasting memory which we will treasure. In the past few years it was good to meet regularly and I will miss him greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Sunday 05 January 2025 John Collins39 Lisnoe RdLisburn
