Dairmaid McGARRIGLE

We, the family of the late Diarmaid McGarrigle (Glen Road, Derry), wish to express our deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to everyone who sympathised with us during our recent sad loss. We would like to acknowledge the countless gestures of kindness, love and support shown to us by family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues whose help was invaluable before, during and after Diarmaid’s wake and funeral.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the wake and funeral, travelled long distance or took time to watch the live stream from the church and to all those who telephoned, sent mass cards, sympathy cards, flowers and messages of love and support.

Our sincere gratitude to our brilliant family, friends and neighbours who provided refreshments, brought food and assisted in so many other ways.

A special thank you to Bridie and Dick Boyd, their family and neighbours in Carrickfinn and Father Ó Gallchóir who provided us and especially our brother Raymond with immense help, comfort and support when it was so suddenly needed. Go raibh míle maith agaibh uilig. Bhí grá ar leith ag Diarmaid ar an Charraig Fhionn agus ar mhuintir na háite. Tugann sé sólás áirithe dúinn gur ar an Phointe a bhí sé nuair a d’imigh sé uainn ar shlí na fírinne.

Sincere thanks to Fr Gormley (Holy Family, Ballymagroarty) for his support and the lovely requiem mass. A special word of thanks to Rachel Coyle for her beautiful singing at the mass.

Thank you to the staff and management at the Whitehorse Hotel, Campsie, who accommodated us with a lovely meal after the funeral at short notice.

We would also like to thank John and Kieran at W.J. O’Brien and Son Funeral Directors for the kind, sensitive and dignified manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements. Without all their help and advice a very distressing time would have been much worse.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our deep and sincere appreciation.

Instead of a month’s mind mass there will be two celebrations of Diarmaid’s life and a chance to come together to share memories either at Glebe House, Strangford on 1st October or the Abercorn Bar, Derry on 13th October. Details will follow. All are welcome.

Have you considered?
