ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We – Ursula, Gavin, Jack, Sarah and Orla, would like to express our sincere thanks to all who
supported us throughout David’s short illness, and sympathised with us in our recent loss of
our much loved husband and daddy.
To Una, Seana and Claire (Team David) who went above and beyond to practically and
emotionally support myself, David and our children during the most difficult and heart-
breaking journey of our lives. Also to Stuart for his support when David was in Belfast and
for his quiet assistance behind the scenes. To our neighbours and friends – Christine &
Finbar, Ann-Marie, Jo, and Andrew, Veronica and boys who helped organise the house for
and during the wake, and Patricia who looked after Milo.
To Neil, Pauline and the boys at Natural Stone, who have been David’s work family for 30
years and looked after him so well. Also to Ursula’s colleagues past and present, as well as
the management at Leadcare Nursing Agency, Jack’s colleagues at Supervalu, Orla’s
lecturers at Northwest Regional College, Limavady, Sarah’s university friends who travelled from Bristol, Lucy, Gavin’s partner, who travelled from Preston, and all those who travelled long distances to support us.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Foyle Hospice who, not only looked after David in his final weeks with care and compassion, but also showed such kindness to his family. Thank you to all who called at the hospice bringing coffee, food and words of comfort – your thoughtfulness will not be forgotten. A special mention also to Dr Doherty, Eglinton Medical Practice, for her care and consideration.
We would like to thank Monsignor Dolan and Reverend Cotter for the thoughtful funeral
mass, Una for composing such a fitting eulogy for David, as well as the beautiful music from
Raymond, Joe and Oonagh. Thank you to the readers – Laura, Anya, Ann-Marie, Jo, Paul and
Vinnie, to William, Oliver, Patrick, Noah and Isla for the gifts, and also Jo and Andrew the
Eucharistic ministers – for their participation. Thank you to Deborah and Seamus,
McLaughlin Funeral Directors, for their support, professionalism and guidance.
Thank you to those who donated so generously in lieu of flowers to the Foyle Hospice.
It is impossible to thank everyone individually but we hope that you will accept this
acknowledgement as a token of our appreciation for your love and support over the last 8 months, we will be forever grateful.
