Dr George CARRUTHERS
CARRUTHERS, Dr George – son of Moses and Alice Carruthers (Newbuildings then Drumahoe), died peacefully at home, on 21 December 2024, age 79.
Beloved husband of 55 years to Jill (née Devon). Loving father of Alison (wife of Adrian Miller and mother of Cam and Jay); David (father of Colin and Grace); Bruce (father of Maddie); and Michael (husband of Sarah and father of Isla and Devon). Elder brother to Christine (Ead); Rosemary (wife of Norman Chestnutt); Janet (predeceased) and Edwin.
George was a passionate life-long traveller, lover of opera, theatre, art and history among many other interests. Attended Foyle and then Queens. A respected physician and researcher, and an amazing husband, brother, father and grandfather.
There will be a private cremation followed by a service of celebration at Ronnie Thompson’s Funeral Home, 20 Ballinderry Road, Lisburn, BT281UF, at 3.00pm on Saturday, 11 January, 2025.
