Lesley, Rory and Erin wish to express our sincere thanks to all those who
sympathised with us in the loss of our beloved husband and father, John.
Particular thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Belfast Cancer
Centre, Ulster Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital and Struell Surgery, especially
Dr Small and Dr Moore, for their exceptional care of John and the family; our
NI Hospice nurse and District Nursing team for their compassionate care and
kindness to John in his final weeks; Marie Curie for their caring support and
Strangford Pharmacy for their dedicated service. We especially thank Fr
Aidan Brankin PP, Canon Sean Gilmore, Fr John McManus and Sr Ann Quinn
for their prayerful support throughout John’s illness and passing. We are
particularly indebted to Canon Sean for the beautiful Requiem Mass and to
Colleen and Jennifer for the moving and uplifting music. Special thanks to
Patsy Fitzsimons and the staff of Down Funeral Directors for the caring and
dignified way in which they carried out the funeral arrangements. Thank you
to those who sent letters, Mass cards and sympathy cards and especially to
those who shared beautiful tributes to John which are a great comfort to the
family. A special thanks to those who sent donations for Friends of the Cancer
Centre NI. Thank you to our beloved close family for their unwavering support
and extended family, neighbours, friends and work colleagues for their
thoughtfulness and help. Also, to the many who attended John’s wake and
funeral, provided food, helped in the home, at the Mass and with the tea
afterwards. Finally, thank you to Michael, Joan and Aveen for their
exceptional kindness to us. We trust this acknowledgement will be accepted
by all as a token of our sincere appreciation. John’s Month’s Mind will be
celebrated in St Malachy’s Church, Kilclief on Sunday 24 November at 11am.
