Mary Mulligan (nee Reihill)
Erne Villa, Church St, Irvinestown.
Died 20th August 2024

The children and extended family of the late Mary Mulligan would like to offer sincere thanks and appreciation to all who supported us, and sympathised with us during our recent bereavement.

We would like to acknowledge all who paid their respects in any way. Heartfelt thanks to those who attended the Wake in Ederney, lined the route of the funeral cortege, or attended the funeral in the Sacred Heart Church.

Our thanks also to all who called to our home, brought gifts, sent Mass or Sympathy cards, messaged us or posted tributes via social media. Your support, kindness and care will always be remembered.

We wish to thank Canon Kevin Duffy and Canon Michael McGourty for providing constant spiritual support to mum over the years. Special thanks to Canon Kevin for his kindness to us all, and for so diligently and thoughtfully preparing and celebrating mum’s Requiem Mass and eulogy. Thanks also to Fr. Niall Martin (Kiltegan Fathers) and Canon McGourty for concelebrating the Mass, to Veronica McCarron and Gerry McNulty for the beautiful music and singing of mum’s favourite hymns, and to Francie Molloy our church sacristan.

We wish to acknowledge and thank all the wonderful Health Care professionals who cared for and supported mum and the family. Our gratitude goes to the doctors (past and present) and district nurses at Irvinestown Health Centre. Thanks also to the Hospital at Home care team, Palliative Care team and Marie Curie nurses. Very special thanks to our pharmacist, Brendan Lilley and his team at the Medical Hall, Irvinestown. Brendan has been the one constant in mum’s health care for decades, and we will always be grateful for his diligence, and the kindness he showed her.

Our thanks to Claude and Patsy (Claude McKervey Funeral Directors, Ederney), for their dignified and sympathetic support, and professionalism throughout. Thanks also to the gravediggers, Timothy and Rodney, for preparing mum’s final resting place and to Mary Howe for the beautiful floral arrangement. A special word of thanks to John Lynch for reading his lovely tribute to mum at her graveside.

Thanks to Nora’s Coffee Shop, Mahon’s Hotel and cousin Una, for providing sandwiches, and Janet O’Reilly for her lovely homemade scones. To family friends Anne Molloy, Louise Mulrone, Marie Henderson and Geraldine McMulkin, a huge thank you for giving your time and catering for all who called to our home, Erne Villa. A special thanks also to Louise for preparing the delicious food which sustained the family throughout the Wake.

Mum is loved and missed every day. We give thanks for a life well lived and pray that her gentle and generous soul may now rest in peace.

Mum’s Months Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 28th September at 6.00pm in the Sacred Heart Church, Irvinestown.
