The death has occurred of:
Christy GILLEN
Christy Gillen
First Anniversary
A year has passed since you slipped away,
Surrounded by loved ones who held you that day.
Family and friends were close at your side,
As heaven’s door slowly opened wide.
A devoted husband to Sadie, so true,
Forty-seven years of love you both knew.
A gentle father, so caring and kind,
The very best man we could ever find.
From Derry’s streets to the docks you stood,
Following paths that your father and brother would.
Your love for football, the races too,
Manchester City, Celtic and Derry City — all part of you.
Your greatest joy was your family near,
Your children, grandchildren you held so dear.
Great-grandchildren too, your pride and your song, In your loving arms is where they belong.
Waiting to guide you gently home,Your father Charlie and mother Kathleen stood.
Your brothers Charlie and Bernard, with love so true,
And your grandson Wee Emmett with his mum Charmaine too.
The rain poured down as we laid you to rest,
Were those heaven’s tears, loving and blessed?
Soft as the sorrow we felt in our hearts,
As we whispered goodbye — though never apart.
You’ve left a space no one can fill,
But you walk beside us — and always will.
Forever loved, forever missed,
In our hearts your memory lives and exists.
Loved and missed every day by your loving wife Sadie, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces, brothers and sisters in law, cousins and all his many friends.
Christy's 1st Anniversary mass will take place on Friday 27th February 2026 at 7.30pm in St Mary's Church, Creggan.
All are welcome to attend.
Sister Clare and Our Lady of Knock pray for him.
" He was too well known to be missed".
