Nessie was an endlessly kind and gentle woman. She did not have a single streak of negativity and always saw the best in everyone and everything. Her quiet and reserved nature hid a steely resolve and although she often appeared somewhat frail, she had a tremendous inner strength and a devotion to her faith and to her family. We used to love her annual summer trips to England and when she was here it really did feel like simultaneously having an honored guest and a kindly, generous Auntie whom we shared countless fun days out with. Nessie was kind enough to have me stay with her when I first came to Northern Ireland and it was a privilege to enter her world and be introduced by her to Karl and Roberta on that trip. I was also very lucky to see her again for in 2017 and she had lost none of her gentle nature, nor her inner strength. Nessie is now reunited with her mother, father and her brother. Nessie will be enormously missed by me and my Mum but few would be so lucky to have led a life defined by respect, faith, gentleness and unending kindness. Time slips past but memories last.
