It was with great sadness that I learned recently from Fermanagh friends of David’s passing. The Fawcett and Alexander families were great friends for many years; going back to when David’s father and my grandfather Hugh grew up together as kids (Hugh’s father being the CI Reverend in Blacklion). Apparently David’s father saved my grandfather from drowning in one of the Belcoo lakes. Because of this great friendship my Grandfather during the Second World War ensured his wife and young family returned from the south of England to Enniskillen thus my father and his brother Michael renewed friendship with David and John. The Fawcett & Nixon relationship goes back a long way .... to when David and his bro John were small boys and my mum Alice became their governess. She always spoke with great joy of those days and we as kids used to enjoy visiting Trory when they lived there. Thinking of John at this seminar moment and conveying our deepest sympathy
