Tom and Elva first opened their home to the High family in 1992 after we had moved from South-East London. They soon made us feelat home' in the fellowship of Lisburn Cathedral. Their weekly Bible Study was a real life-line to us as they guided us through the cultural maze of our relocation. Tom was a valued mentor to us as we began to engage with the wider church in new areas of service.
Throughout the intervening years, Tom and Elva (I can't separate them, even for this brief notice) have always been a great and valued source of encouragement. I am sorry that I was unable to attend Tom's memorial service, as I missed an opportunity to return some of this encouragement to Elva and the family.
