I worked with William (“Willie”) for most of my career. He was such a kind person, a wonderful and patient teacher, a man of total integrity and honesty. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ruth Gilmore
I was sad to read from a colleague last week that the Prof had passed away. I can safely say that I would have given up my career in QUB 20 years ago if it wasn't for Professor Wallace's unstinting kindness and warm mentorship. His was the epitome of a live well lived. Conversations with colleagues in todays QUB Centre for Biomedical Sciences Education reveal that this was an opinion shared widely among colleagues. Many of us have reasons to be especially grateful to "Willie".

Professor Wallace was a gentleman and so kind. When I lecture, I always tell students that he is the reason I never try to discourage anyone. He was simply a very humane person.
