Border to the Past
Decoration, beauty board
Time forgot, or just ignored
The change of pace would feel
Authentic as the Border Inn
Four decades of Guinness pints
Set up well in the same pub
I once met the ‘Mayor of Clare’
No one else remembers there
I rub my fingers just for luck
Along the brass inscription
And I go back forty years
Before this world went missing
Along with people I loved then
Their half way stop most weekends
When steak was more affordable
And northern goods were plentiful.
RIP Avril and Jimmy, I remember with great fondness. Thank you for your kindness.
Richard.
