I also worked with John in Taggart's, but in the structural engineering department. I found him to be a very polite and well-mannered person who always had a smile on his face. We both worked as part of the design team for the Hilton Hotel Belfast, where John was able to make use of his creative talents on the detailed architectural design. This is very sad news indeed. I had the pleasure of studying Architecture with John at QUB from 1983-1989 during which he was a standout student and achieved a 1st Class Honours degree however it was not his academic brilliance which left a lasting impression on me. Instead, it was Johns character for he was warm, generous, and courteous to a fault... a true gentleman in every respect and credit to his parents and their family values. He spent many years of distinguished service at Taggart's Architectural firm before joining me at McAdam Design between the years 2017-2024. During his time at McAdams he designed several outstanding buildings but most notable was his contribution to the award-winning Templemore Baths Restoration Project. I will miss John for although not a close friend he left a lasting impression on me which is testament to him as a person... I can almost see him blush at the thought of his tribute. Farewell John. From our Taggart years I knew you as a very talented and skilled architect; dedicated and reliable; a consummate professional. Honoured to have known you. Rest Easy. Saturday 13 December 2025 Colin Reid
