It was my great pleasure to work with Mr Bentley; aside from his knowledge and professionalism, he brought warmth and colour to proceedings in the King's Bench. I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to his family. He will be sorely missed.

I learned with great shock of Ronnie’s passing. I knew he wasn’t well over the last few weeks but with his irreplaceable personality and self confidence I assumed he would pull through.
He had a wonderfully bright totally irreverent sense of humour.
When he was a junior counsel and going out with Patricia he practically ran the County Court in Newry. He acted in most cases for one side or the other. He was a brilliant barrister and a formidable opponent. If you had hopes of winning your case you did not want Ronnie acting against you.
He is an enormous loss to his ex colleagues and friends but most of all to Patricia and his children

It is with great sadness that I learned of Ronnie's passing. Ronnie has been a stalwart of our NI legal world for many years and so many of us cannot contemplate his absence. On every occasion for over 28 years, I secured Ronnie for Senior asap, as woe betide if he was agin you. His towering intellect, sarcasm, withering wit and warmth will be forever missed. The Great Hall will be lacklustre without him. Condolences to Patricia and family at this very sad time.
