It is with great sadness I hear of David's passing.
He was a trusted tutor and gentle mentor;
beloved of so many young students who entered the doors of Belfast Art College.
I will always remember his kindness, patience and faith in me.

Dear Janet,
I am very sorry to hear about Davids' death last week. Sad news. I am one of a few who got to know David both as a student and as a colleague, which was a privilege. As a tutor he was open to and aware of students working on the fringes of accepted artistic forms/media, I guess his awareness was alive to the edges of existing artistic enquiry. As a student he was able to follow my somewhat mind altered optical installational tests and push me to resolve their technical issues. He was always able to follow the workings of students out on the edges of fine art practices. He would support students how were struggling to make sense of their own creative wanderings and mental doubts. In this way he was very generous to many over the years. Sad to learn that he is now gone. My thoughts are with you at this time.
