My debt to Harry is incalculable. After I qualified as a librarian in June 1976 I was out of work for six months. On the day before the Christmas holiday I got a phone call from Harry offering me three months work as an assistant librarian with S.E.L.B. I was to be there until October 1977 when I got a permanent post. My ten months with S.E.L.B., the magnificent service directed by Harry, gave me a training that stood me in good stead for the rest of my career! This good and great man made an incomparable contribution to libraries, the church and society! My heart goes out to Iris and the family.
