There is nothing I can add to what my brother Barry Campbell has said in tribute.
Fr.John was a caring and compassionate man who provided great spiritual and moral support over many years to the Campbell family here in the North.
He was especially loved and valued by my sister Marie-Lou Mullan and my Auntie Sheila, particularily in their latter years.
May he rest in peace.

Colm Campbell.
I would like to convey my sincere condolences on Fr. John's passing.
notwithstanding his lifelong association with Sligo, he was mindful of his family connections with the Campbell family in Belfast. His mother Gertrude was a sister of my grandfather John and was therefore a first cousin of my late father Charles and his sister, Sheila (Deehan). It was with her in particular he kept in touch with and through her I got to know and like him over the years.
His mother died very young in the 1940's in Belfast and is buried in the family grave there along with my grandparents and my brother, Colum who died in infancy. I make point of visiting it regularly.
John never missed a Funeral in our family and travelled to the North regularly to attend and officiate. The last time I chatted to him was at the funeral of my brother in law, John Mullan, three years ago and we renewed our friendship.
Through another unrelated connection, I learned something of his work in Sligo and the huge number of condolences I've read are a fitting tribute to a compassionate and saintly man.
May he Rest in Peace
