Gertie and Peck lived next door to my parents (John and Emma Leathem) for decades on Reilly Street.
As neighbours my parents could not have wished for better with them both looking out for my parents as they aged.
We live in Canada and one of the highlights of any trip home was a visit to the Reaveys. Their hospitality was unsurpassed and we were always assured of an enjoyable evening with Gertie and Peck.
We are saddened to learn of her passing and the loss of yet another family friend and delightful local personality. Any dinner out with Gertie was always fun as she knew so many people and the history of their families - she was the local ancestory directory.
We were hoping to visit with her in September on our next trip home. Alas we will not enjoy her infectious personality again in this realm and that saddens us.
We send our deepest condolences to her family (especially Claire and Anne whom we know well).
