In Loving Memory of Desmond McCann
Date of Death: 14th December 2025
The family of the late Desmond McCann wish to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who supported us during our recent loss of a dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather.
We are grateful to those who travelled from near and far to attend the wake and funeral service and are deeply touched by those who took time to remember Des with messages of condolence, Mass and sympathy cards, and the sharing of kind words and memories. We would especially like to thank our extended families, friends, neighbours and members of the wider community who provided practical support – bringing food, serving tea, assisting with parking and lighting. Your presence and generosity were an immense comfort.
We extend our gratitude to Monsignor Curry and Fr. Hughes for their pastoral support and for the funeral Mass and burial that honoured Desmond’s life. A special thank you to Fiona and the musicians for the beautiful music which enriched the service, and to Jacob the piper who led us to Desmond’s final resting place. Thanks also to all who participated in the funeral Mass with readings, prayers, the bearing of gifts, administering the Eucharist and those who helped prepare the Church and burial ground.
Our thanks to the Greenvale Hotel for providing refreshments and to those who helped with catering in Lissan Hall after the service which was very much appreciated.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to all the dedicated and compassionate health care professionals involved in Desmond’s care over the past few years - the Renal and Cardiology teams in Antrim Area Hospital, Moneymore Medical Centre, Moneymore Pharmacy and the district nursing and community palliative care teams. Our particular thanks to the domiciliary care workers who were such a support in helping tend to Desmond at home during his final weeks.
A special word of thanks to Joanna and all at Niall Loughran Funeral Directors for the considerate and dignified manner in which they conducted the funeral arrangements.
As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this as a personal expression of our sincerest thanks and gratitude.
“You were always someone special
Someone kind and true
Who will never be forgotten
For we thought the world of you”
