The death has occurred of:
Gemma McVeigh
We, the family of the late Gemma McVeigh, wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us and sympathised with us during our recent loss. The kindness and compassion shown to us has been a great comfort during this difficult time.
We are deeply moved by the overwhelming support of all who took the time to attend Gemma’s wake and funeral, and to those who watched the Funeral Mass online - please know that we felt your support, and it has brought us great comfort. To those who travelled long distances from across Ireland, England, Scotland, and America, who waited patiently in queues for extended periods to pay their respects, and who stood with us in shared sorrow, your presence meant more than words can express. To all who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, online condolences, donations to the Palliative Care Unit in Omagh, and those who generously sent food to the house, your kindness, love, and solidarity have been a true source of strength.
To our wonderful extended family, friends, and neighbours from the communities of Pettigo, Ederney, Enniskillen, Dromore and Cavan, your invaluable help and presence will never be forgotten.
A special thank you to Gemma’s former colleagues who lined the route on her final journey.
Our sincere appreciation extends to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital, all community nursing staff who attended and supported Gemma, and especially the Palliative Care Unit in Omagh Hospital for their dedication and compassion.
We are also deeply grateful to Fr. Raymond Donnelly, Msgr. Peter O'Reilly, and St. Michael’s Parish for facilitating Gemma’s Funeral Mass, as well as to Fr. Jason Murphy and Fr. Artie McCann for concelebrating. To Fr. Joseph, who led such a beautiful Funeral Mass, capturing Gemma so perfectly in his homily, and who has been an enduring presence of support, we will be eternally grateful.
Special gratitude to ‘Music by Tully’, accompanied by young piper Dáithi O’Manley, for the beautiful and moving music that made the Funeral Mass even more special. Your music truly honoured Gemma’s spirit and brought comfort to all in attendance.
A heartfelt thanks to Jim Barnett and Pat Britton of Jim Barnett Funeral Directors for their outstanding professionalism and sensitivity in handling the arrangements for Gemma’s funeral. Your efforts ensured that she was laid to rest with the dignity and respect she so greatly deserved. We also extend our sincere thanks to those who prepared Gemma’s final resting place with such care and dedication.
Thanks also to Nicky, Gavin, and the staff of the Westville Hotel, who provided wonderful refreshments after interment, offering a warm space for reflection and remembrance.
As it would be impossible to personally thank everyone, please accept this message as a token of our family’s deep appreciation. Your kindness and support have meant everything to us in this time of sorrow. A Mass will be offered for your intentions.
Gemma’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 12th April, at 12:00 noon in St. Michael’s Church, Enniskillen.
