The death has occurred of:
Gerard (Gerry) DEERY
The family of the late Gerard Deery would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who offered their kindness, help and support during our recent bereavement, and to the extended family, friends and neighbours who attended the wake and funeral, and to all those who had Masses offered for Dad. Our heartfelt thanks also go to everyone who helped us in so many ways during the wake. In particular, I would like to thank those who took care of the teas and car parking, and to the many people who sent donations. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Ward 5, Waterside Hospital for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion shown to Gerard and his family during his final weeks in their care. A special mention to the staff of Eglinton Medical Practice and Dungiven Family Practice for all the care given to Daddy throughout his long life
A special word of thanks to Fr Noel McDermott, P.P., for celebrating the Requiem Mass, which was a fitting tribute to Daddy. Thanks to Fr Paul McCafferty (Bishop's Office), Fr Michael Canny and Fr John Forbes, who concelebrated the Requiem Mass. Thanks to Monsignor Andrew Dolan and Fr David O'Kane for their attendance at the burial and also to the many other priests from the Derry Diocese who attended the wake, offering their spiritual support, guidance and pastoral care to the family.
We wish especially to thank St Mary's Folk Group, who provided such beautiful music at the Requiem Mass, and to Slaughtmanus GAC for rearranging their plans to enable us to use their facilities for refreshments post burial. A sincere thank you to Kieran, Noeleen and all the staff at W J O'Brien and Son’s Funeral Directors for the caring, dignified and professional manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements.
It is impossible to thank everyone for their kindness individually, so please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation. Gerard's month's mind Mass will be held in St Mary's Church, Tamnaherin on Sunday 6th September at 10 a.m.
