McDowell Jim (James Alexander), died 24th April 2026. Our adored husband, father, grandfather and hero. Will be missed forever by wife Lindy, daughter Faye and partner Jarrod, son Jamie and partner Jana and son Micah and partner Zoi. Also by his grandchildren, Niamh, Ewan and Marlenka, his brother Tom, brother-in-law Bow, Joan and Neil in Glasgow and all the wider McDowell, Bowman and McIlvenna family circles.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday 2nd May 2026 at St George's Church of Ireland, High Street, Belfast at 11am. Afterwards to Roselawn crematorium for private family service. Home strictly private.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to either Belfast City Centre Food Bank or The Welcome Organisation c/o Melville Morgan Funeral Directors 257 Lisburn Road, Belfast, BT9 7EP.

It is hard to express my deep sense of loss and gratitude. And I know of many, some no longer around, for whom Jim's courage and compassion have been such an inspiration, a source of leadership and hope. In the worst of times, Jim could be found walking Belfast's streets, listening, caring, honouring people's journeys.
Jim, and his whole family, have given us so much.
