***Acknowledgement & Month Mind Notice***
John Doherty
Died - 17th July 2026
The family of the late John Doherty wish to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with us and supported us on the recent loss of our dearly loved husband, daddy and granda.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who paid their respects, sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, flowers and messages of condolence, and to all who called to our home during the wake or attended John’s funeral. We were deeply touched by the sheer number of people who took the time to attend the Funeral Mass. It meant the world to us to see just how far John’s friendship and the love people had for him extended throughout our community.
A special word of thanks to everyone who helped with refreshments and to those who brought food and other thoughtful gestures of kindness. We are especially grateful to Kevin Daly for everything he did for our family throughout this difficult time. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.
Our sincere thanks to Fr. McFaul of St Mary’s Church Creggan, for visiting John in hospital and for celebrating such a beautiful, comforting and touching Requiem Mass. We also wish to thank Sally-Mae for the beautiful music and singing, which added so much to the celebration of John’s life.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Kieran Connor and all the staff at McClafferty Funeral Directors for the compassion, dignity and professionalism shown to our family throughout.
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of Ward 26, Altnagelvin Hospital, for the exceptional care and kindness shown to John during his time in hospital.
We have been deeply touched by the overwhelming love, support and compassion shown by our family, friends, neighbours and the wider community. Knowing we were surrounded by such kindness has been a great source of comfort during this incredibly sad and difficult time.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a sincere expression of our heartfelt gratitude to all who supported us in any way.
John’s Month Mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Creggan on Friday 14th August at 7:30pm.
St. Padre Pio and St. Carlo Acutis, pray for John. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
