Kathleen DOHERTY

Mum.
Gracefully elegant, selflessly compassionate, an unapologetically candid, fair-minded, and witty woman.
She loved her style, wildflowers, dancing, dining and cross-continental epic travel adventures, with her lifelong love, our amazing Dad, and her adoring husband, Eric.

The most tender, wise and truly unconditionally dedicated Mother to Jacq and Wesley. A Mum willing to grow and learn with us.
A super proud and loving Grandmother to Isaac and Rowan. Her ‘two pots of gold’.

Starting with Paul, Kathleen took on the lifelong role of being that special Aunt and foresighted friend.

Now Kathleen’s remarkable life has ended.
We, her grieving but grateful family, wish to share our deep gratitude to all the care facilities, family and friends, the communities and random people, who have supported us during Kathleen’s 10+ years of living with cancer.

The medical staff at Altnagelvin Cancer Centre, who assisted Kathleen, Eric and us, in adjusting to our new reality and pushed for life-changing, impactful treatments.

The cancer specialists who kept finding new medicines for Mum to live. Thank you for giving her those chances.

The Doctors and the amazing District Nurses of Aberfoyle Medical Practice, so tender and attentive to us all. We were so very lucky to have you. Thank you.

Staff and all the volunteers of Foyle Hospice Day Care, who provided a vital stimulating space for Kathleen and many others use their illness’s to help each other.

All the volunteers, Doctors and staff of Foyle Hospice In-patient ward.
Thank you for taking such delicate care of Kathleen and helping stabilise her so we could bring her home.

The 24/7 Amazing Marie Curie Medical Team. In the darkest of nights you stayed with us.

Strabane District Caring & Bryson Carers for warming our home and finding us some of the very best Carers. Who filled our home with laughter, song, love and friendship. You really made a difference.
We said we wouldn’t name individuals, too many to mention, but Annmarie, Sarah & Paula we are humbled. Thank you girls.

Rev. Katie and Rev. Linda. Frequently visiting Mum for prayers and communion, and holding her in her incredible spiritual place of peace and acceptance.
Thank you for your very genuine and personal support for us as well as your spiritual guidance for Kathleen.

My dear friend Mara, thank you for capturing Mums funeral and making a video for us. It’s so precious.

D & R Hay and Sons Funeral Directors. Thank you for helping us through the most difficult process. And your professionalism in laying Kathleen to rest.

We have been humbled and honoured by the endless stream of family and friends who came to Kathleen’s wake and funeral. And our family who rallied together and facilitated the wake. Incredible.

Thank you for the charitable donations made.

And a special thank you to everyone who took time to send us a card. Kathleen reached a lot of people. They mean so much and are often reflected on.

Kathleen touched the lives of too many to mention.
Long may we hear her beautiful voice in our heads and find her in our dreams.
I hope your faith carried you to where to believed it would Mum.
Forever missed
