Acknowledgement
We, the family of the late Kathleen Ward, of 6 Sandringham Drive, Prehen, who passed away on 30th September 2026, wish to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with us during our recent sad bereavement.
We are deeply grateful to our relatives, friends, neighbours, work colleagues and well-wishers who visited our home, attended the wake and funeral, and offered such kindness, comfort and practical support during this difficult time. To those who telephoned, travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, Mass and sympathy cards, letters and messages of condolence, we extend our sincere appreciation.
We wish to thank the staff at Altnagelvin Area Hospital for the care and attention they provided during our mother's recent illness. We are particularly grateful to the team of occupational therapists, especially Barbara and Karen, who worked tirelessly to ensure that Mum had the necessary support, both in hospital and following her return home. Their dedication, kindness and compassion meant so much to us.
A special word of thanks goes to the Western Trust's Acute Care at Home team, who cared for our mother during her final days at home, helping to manage her symptoms and ensure she was as comfortable as possible.
We also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the carers from Strabane & District Caring Services and North West Care. The genuine kindness, dignity and respect with which they cared for Mum provided great reassurance to us as a family and helped make it possible for her to spend her final weeks in the comfort and familiarity of her own home. For this, we will always be grateful.
Our sincere thanks also go to Cityview Medical Practice, particularly Eleanor and the district nursing team, for their attentive and compassionate care of our mother over the years, and especially as her health deteriorated in recent months.
We extend our sincere thanks to Fr Michael Canny, PP, Glendermott Parish, who attended our mother in hospital and at home, and to Fr Eamon McDevitt, PP, St Patrick's, Killenagh, for visiting our home during the wake, praying with us and offering spiritual comfort and support. We are also grateful to Fr Eamon for enabling us to lay our mother to rest in her native Dunamanagh.
We would especially like to thank Fr Sean O'Donnell, PP, Melmount and Sion Mills Parishes, for celebrating such a beautiful and meaningful Requiem Mass for Mum, and for the kindness, friendship and support he extended to our family throughout the wake and funeral.
Our thanks also go to Michelle and Declan for the beautiful singing and music during the Requiem Mass, and to the gravedigger who so respectfully prepared Mummy's final resting place.
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Kieran and all the staff at WJ O'Brien Funeral Directors, Eglinton, for the professional, dignified and sensitive manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements.
We extend a word of thanks to Clann na nGael Aughabrack Dunamanagh G.A.C. for the use of their clubrooms and to Oran and the team at Hilltop Café for providing refreshments after the funeral.
Finally, we are deeply grateful for the many prayers, acts of kindness and expressions of support we have received. Each gesture, however small, has brought us comfort during our time of sorrow. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted as an expression of our most sincere and heartfelt appreciation.
Kathleen's Month's Mind Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick's Church, Killenagh, Dunamanagh on Saturday 31st October 2026 at 6.30 pm.
