The death has occurred of:
Mary Teresa (Máire) FINNEGAN (née McKay)
(Late of Dunlambert Drive, Belfast and Whiteabbey Care Home) Máire’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to everyone who sympathised with them in any way during their recent bereavement.
We deeply appreciated the Mass cards, letters, telephone calls, flowers and many Masses offered by priests near and far. We thank everyone who made donations to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society at the time of the funeral. The prayers and practical support offered by family, neighbours, friends and colleagues were tremendously consoling at a very difficult time.
We appreciate the kindness and attentiveness of the staff of Whiteabbey Care Home who cared for Máire so diligently during her time there, as well as the doctors and staff of Salisbury Medical Centre.
We thank the priests of Holy Family Parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Fortwilliam and Our Lady Queen of Peace, Glenravel for their kind support and prayers at the wake and funeral.
We wish to thank Canon Justin Ong for administering the Last Rites to Máire and praying with the family at the wake. We thank Fr John O’Laverty who attended the wake and prepared and offered the beautiful Requiem Mass for Máire in St Thérèse Church and for accompanying the family to the burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Glenravel.
Thanks are also due to the organist Jack Fusco; the soloists Áine Brolly and Isabel Steele and the choir of Immaculate Heart of Mary who provided such beautiful and uplifting music at the Requiem Mass.
A special word of thanks to Con Magee’s GAC, Glenravel for the lovely venue for the reception after the funeral and especially to Rosie Fyfe and her team who provided an excellent reception at a very busy time of year.
We appreciate the professionalism and attention to detail with which O’Kanes Funeral Directors carried out the funeral arrangements.
A Mass for the happy repose of Máire’s soul will be offered on Sunday 8th March 2026 in St Thérèse Church Somerton Road at 12 o’clock.
We trust this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our appreciation to all.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
