Family thanks and notice of months mind.
The family and girlfriend of the late Matthew McGuigan would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those who sympathised with them through their recent sad bereavement.

A heartfelt thanks to our extended family, friends, neighbours and the wider community who called at the family homes, sent mass cards, sympathy cards, flowers or expressed condolences via telephone and social media and to all those who attended the wake and funeral, some of whom travelled great distances to be with us.

We would like to especially thank all those who prepared food and helped during the wake and who looked after transport, provided lighting or assisted in anyway. A special word of thanks to the committee, coaches and players of Kildress Wolfe Tones for taking charge of the many jobs that were carried out and the wider GAA family from within Tyrone and beyond who offered sympathy to the family. We are forever grateful for your kindness and support.

Sincere thanks to Dr David Murphy and his team at the Prince of Wales hospital in Sydney, the emergency services and the priests who cared for Matthew. We also express our gratitude to all those who attended the hospital to support his girlfriend Clodagh during this time and in the days afterwards especially the Cormac McAnallen Gaelic football club and the Irish Support Agency. We also acknowledge the outstanding efforts of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust for all their assistance and guidance.

We the families were greatly comforted by the beautiful reflections which were held by the Wolfe Tones GFC in the Hub at Kildress and by Fr. Rocks GFC in the Holy Trinity Church, Cookstown, in Sydney, Dubai and New York. We thank all those who spoke so kindly about Matthew and the clergy who assisted at these services. We would also like to thank all the priests who called with us. A special word of thanks to Fr Hughes, Fr Boyle, Monsignor Curry and Fr Heagney for their spiritual guidance, support, and the dignified way they carried out the funeral mass. We also express our gratitude to all the people who took part in the various Guards of Honour. Our thanks to all the musicians in Kildress and Cookstown for the beautiful music and singing which enhanced the liturgies. A special word of thanks to Ciara Fox, Plunkett McGartland, Matty Mullin and Gerry Loughran for the beautiful music and singing at the funeral. We would also like to thank the church sacristans, the eucharist ministers and everyone who took part in the funeral service.

A special word of thanks to Joanna and the staff at Niall A Loughran’s Funeral Directors for the way in which the wake and funeral arrangements were conducted, all in a very caring, professional and dignified manner and to the gravediggers for preparing Matthew’s final resting place. Many thanks to Stephen Mallon for his lovely flower arrangements. Thank you also to Raymond and Claire at the Mill Wheel Bar who provided food after the funeral.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our family’ssincere gratitude.
