The death has occurred of:
Maura Byrne
We, the family of Maura Byrne, wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all who supported us during our recent bereavement. Thank you to all who attended the funeral Mass and burial, to those who visited the house during the wake, and the many who sent Mass cards, flowers and messages of condolence and support. We are especially grateful to all our friends and neighbours who helped in practical ways- bringing food, caring for visitors, serving tea and assisting with traffic and parking. A special word of thanks to St Joseph's Parochial Hall for supplying chairs and O'Hanlon's GFC for allowing us to use their carpark.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Avila Nursing Home, specifically the Derrymore Suite, who cared for Mummy with dignity and compassion, particularly during the final weeks of her illness. To the Paramedics, Acute Home Care team, GPs at Dr Cupples, Huey and McCreedy, Loughbrickland, we as a family genuinely thank you for your attention, care and support.
We would like to thank Fr. Kevin Conway and Fr. Martin Kavanagh for visiting Mummy, for their pastoral support to the family and for the beautiful funeral mass. We extend our gratitude to Kerrie Kennedy for the beautiful music (accompanied by Maura’s granddaughter Aoibh), Glenn GFC and St. Joseph & St. James PS for their respectful Guard of Honour and to everyone else who participated in the service.
Thank you to John and Lisa Kennedy for the catering after the Funeral Mass and to Glenn GFC for the use of their premises. Our sincere thanks to Charles Digney and Sons Funeral Directors for their compassionate and professional handling of all the funeral arrangements.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a sincere expression of our appreciation from all the Byrne Family.
Maura’s Months Mind Mass will be celebrated on
Saturday 17th January 2026 at 6pm St. John's Church, Glenn.
