The family of the late Fr. John Colgan, R.I.P., wish to express our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us in our recent bereavement of our beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
Your prayers, support and kindness will never be forgotten.

To all who travelled long distances to attend the wake and funeral, who sent Mass and sympathy cards and those who conveyed messages of condolence — your generosity, compassion and thoughtfulness have been a true source of comfort and blessing to our family.

A special word of thanks to Fr. Cyril Lovett celebrant St Columbans for his requiem mass and fitting eulogy. Thank you to co-celebrants Fr. Peter McAnenly and Fr. John Brown Carrickmore. To Fr. David Kenneally, Regional Director of the Columbans in Ireland, for his heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Johns life and ministry over the years.
Your spiritual support and comforting words meant so much to us as a family and helped us to honour Fr. John in the most meaningful way possible.

We are grateful to the caring and dedicated staff of the nursing home for the support and kindness shown to Fr. John. We also give a heartfelt thanks to all the priests in St. Columbans who prayed daily with us in Fr. John’s final months. A special thank you to our good friend, and neighbour Fr. Michael Martin for his constant support and companionship with Fr. John and our family.

We extend our gratitude to Margaret the organist and the Columban Priests Choir for the uplifting music during the Requiem Mass.
A sincere thanks to Hugh Grogan and his friends for providing traditional Irish music during Fr. John’s removal to the chapel the previous evening.

Our family would also like to express our appreciation to St. Columbans College for providing refreshments throughout the wake and for the beautiful meal served after the funeral.

Thanks also to Fitzsimons Funeral Directors, Navan, for their dignified and compassionate care.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a small token of our immense gratitude to all who supported, and continue to support us during this time of loss.

The Month’s Mind Mass for Fr. John will be celebrated on Saturday 27th December 2025 at 11.00am in St. Colmcille’s Church, Carrickmore.

May he rest in peace.
