Richard William

On behalf of our much loved and adored son and brother Richard, we want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us during and since his recent tragic loss.

To Richard’s workmates and all the emergency services who attended in any way to try and help Richard on that very sad day, we thank you for your dignified compassion and professionalism.

To everyone who called at our home, sent cards, messages, flowers, made food, and helped in the home to prepare teas during the wake, we can’t thank you enough. To know that family and friends so willingly gave up their time to support us at such a traumatic time, your kindness will never be forgotten.

In the midst of the wake and funeral, there was a completely different world going on outside our front door as many, many people went over and above to help in a practical way. We want to sincerely thank everyone who helped in any way - from tidying the gardens, the roadside and around the church, helped prepare the farm for the funeral service, brought chairs and also supplied toilets for the wake and funeral.

Our sincere and grateful thanks to those who generously provided buses to bring visitors to the wake and funeral and all those who assisted with helping to park cars at all the various car parks.

Once again, we must also thank Ballyeglish Church of Ireland, Saltersland Presbyterian Church and St. Patrick’s Chapel at the Loup, for allowing us to avail of their carparks, and our kind neighbours in Ballyeglish who also provided parking.

Sincere thanks to the Rev. William Anderson and Canon Drew Dawson for their pastoral care and for conducting Richard’s funeral with such dignity and comfort on his much loved farm and their ongoing support since then.

Grateful thanks to the organist, Mrs Helen Jones, for playing at the funeral, Richard’s good pal William Sufferin for doing a Bible reading and to Andrew Glendinning and Stephen Cousley for preparing the sound system and recording the funeral service.

Special thanks to Dunamoney Flute Band and Ballymoughan Purple Guards for their poignant Guard of Honour.

A huge thank you to John and Edith Blair and their staff for providing and serving the tea on Richard’s Farm after the Funeral.

A special word of thanks to everyone that sent donations in lieu of flowers to Air Ambulance NI and Ballyeglish Parish Church, your generosity has been truly appreciated.

To everyone who helped in any way, big or small, your kindness will never be forgotten.

As it is impossible to thank each person individually, we hope this message will be received as a token of our deepest appreciation. Your continued support throughout these dark days reminds us how truly loved Richard was.

Finally, our deep gratitude to Helen, Kristy and all the staff at Watters Funeral Services for all your care, compassion and support throughout Richard’s wake and funeral, ensuring that Richard got the poignant send off he truly deserved. Also thanks to John Spratt for preparing Richard’s final resting place.

Richard meant so much to us, and we are and always will be immensely proud of the person he was, a fun loving, hardworking lad who achieved so much in his very short 31 ½ years. His huge wake and funeral bore testament to the high esteem in which he was held, not just with his family and friends, but people who came from far and wide across the country after having met Richard through his work, the farm, the band scene and the loyal orders. It showed the depth of Richards life, the many hearts he touched and the bonds he formed.

Richard leaves us with unforgettable stories that we will share and cherish forever. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing him will carry his memory and spirit in their hearts.

‘Too good in life, to be forgotten in death.’

Always loved, deeply missed, and forever our son and brother

Stephen, Julie and Graeme.
