Roseanne Cassidy – An Appreciation
The family of the late Roseanne Cassidy (née Fletcher) would like to sincerely thank all those who attended her recent wake and service of thanksgiving over the weekend of the 19th–21st Sept, following her passing on the 18th Sept 2026. The huge numbers who attended the wake and funeral were a great tribute to our mum and a reflection of the many people she knew and connected with over her 94 years. Many thanks to those who travelled for the wake and funeral service, especially Roseanne’s nieces and nephews from Glasgow, Margaret, Anthony and Austin, and her sister-in-law Christina and niece Cecilia, from London. Thanks also to her neighbours and friends from Buncrana and also to the neighbours from Oakfield Road who also attended. Many thanks to those who left cards, sent messages, wrote tributes online and to those who sent flowers. The stories and recollections you had of Roseanne brought tears and laughter and were of great comfort to the family during the wake.
A special thanks to Roseanne’s grandchildren who served refreshments during the wake and who cooked meals over the weekend for the family of Roseanne and others. She would have been very proud of the job you did during her wake. Many thanks again.
A special thank you to all who helped and participated in the service of thanksgiving for Roseanne at River City Church, Irish St, Derry. Thanks to Pearse and Roisin for the readings. To Neil, Tom, Michael Wright, Margaret and Roisin for the wonderful music and singing, thank you. Thanks to Mary McHenry for her heartfelt tribute. To Pastor Phelim Doherty for his message, thank you. And to Gerry Burns for his memorable eulogy to Roseanne, many thanks. A special mention to Pastor Paul Crawford for his prayers and for coordinating the service with the family. Thanks to all those who helped organise the logistics at the church on the day. It all helped to make the service uplifting, fitting and memorable for all of us who were in attendance.
We would also like to thank the staff of Cornfield Care Centre, Limavady, for the great care you afforded Roseanne in her 11 months as a resident. You cared for Roseanne with compassion, understanding and dignity, especially in the weeks and days up to her passing. May God bless you in your work of the future.
Finally, to the staff of Bradley & McLaughlin Funeral Directors, William St, Derry. Many thanks to Joe, Denis, Charlie, Kieran and Charles for their professionalism and excellent service afforded to our mother and the family during the wake and funeral service. Every request we made of you, day or night, was delivered on without hesitation and done so in a kind, caring and compassionate manner. Thank you very much.
We were blessed to have Roseanne as our mother and we miss her greatly…. We honoured her life through the wake and the service of thanksgiving. Thanks to all who made this possible. Roseanne’s legacy will live on through her sons, daughters, 22 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
