Sean Kelly 73 Station Road, Florencecourt, BT74 9BJ, died 26th February 2026.
Sean passed away suddenly whilst at work in Scotland on 26th of February. Sean’s wake and funeral were testimony to the great person he was, generous with his time and work, a friend to everyone he came in contact with, and a loving husband to Siobhan, a fabulous father to Catherine (Aidrian), Shannan, Michael (Cailin), Maria and Joanne (Alex). A fun-loving Grandfather to Darcy and Casey, son-in-law to Margaret and brother to Jim (Carmel), Helen (Phil), Michael (Catherine), Eamon (Ursula), Aidan (Naji), Colm (Una), Pauline (Brendan), Maurice (Samantha) and John (Bernie), uncle to the many Nephews and Nieces and Godfather to Nicola, Caitlin and Fiacre. We, Sean’s family wish to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all who sympathised, prayed for us and supported us in various ways through our recent shocked, sad bereavement.
Thank you to everyone who called to the wake, each of you with a story of how you knew Sean, thank you to all who brought food and helped in anyway throughout the wake, our heartfelt appreciation to you all. To each and every person who sent Mass or sympathy cards, messages, flowers or donations in lieu, lined the funeral route and attended Sean’s funeral taking time off work to attend his Requiem Mass, we appreciated it all.
We are so blessed to have the love and support of our family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues at this time, this has been a great strength for us in so many ways as we grieve our much loved Sean.
A special word of thanks to Fr. Seamus Quinn P.P. and Fr. Brian Darcy C.P. who concelebrated Sean’s Requiem Mass alongside the main Celebrant, Sean’s cousin, Fr. Gabriel Kelly whose comforting Requiem Mass will always bring us as a family consolation, especially as it was our most difficult hour. We thank Alexis the sacristan and those who assisted in anyway throughout the liturgy, to the Eucharistic Ministers and the enchanting musician Maria Cameron who provided such comfort with her reverent and uplifting music.
Thank you to Paul Mohan funeral director and his wife Yvonne for the dignified and professional manner in which he carried out everything that had to be endured from Scotland to Sean’s resting place. To Gary Currie who assisted Sean’s removal from Scotland. To Brendan Campbell Tempo for the shuttle bus service and to the drivers Paul and Dermott Leonard many thanks. Brendan also supplied an extensive use of equipment and help to the grave diggers and also to Sean’s brotherJackson in helping with this, it was not easy but it was such comfort to us as a family that Sean’s final resting place was made memorable. To those who offered their services including Gerald Love contracts we also appreciated this.
We would like to thank Oakfield Car Sales, Podiatry Department SWAH, St. Kevin’s college, St Mary’s Mullymesker, Aine Mc Girr school of Irish Dance, Art McMurragh GAA, The Biker fraternity and N.A. Family for providing Guard of Honours, Sean would have been blown away by this thoughtfulness and it meant so much to us as a family.
To Cleenish Community Hall for the use of their facilities to host the many who came from far and near to the funeral and to Adrian Carron for organising the Tullymill for food and refreshments.
And finally, we send our sincere thanks to Aidy Murphy, who was with Sean at the time and called for help, to the BCA staff in Glasgow who provided all help and care to Sean, to the Ambulance staff who attended to Sean in a timely manner and done everything possible. To the Royal Infirmary A & E department who took care of us as a family that evening, to Queen Elizabeth Mortuary and Shuni and her colleagues who helped us in every way possible to get Sean home as soon as we did. They will never realise how much this meant to us as a family. Last but not least, Martin Cheshire who we will be forever grateful to, you made our difficult journey so much easier to travel and you will never know how much this means to us all as a family at such a difficult time.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as a gesture of our family’s gratitude.
Sean is loved and sadly missed each minute of everyday. May his generous, fun-loving gentle soul rest in eternal peace. Sean’s month’s mind Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Arney on Thursday 26th of March at 7:30pm. St Pio pray for him.
