Month’s Mind / Acknowledgement
Tom Lavy
Died 2nd August 2026
The family of the late Tom would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who offered their kindness, help and support during our recent bereavement.
We would particularly like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff of Foyle Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness and compassion shown to Daddy during the time he spent in their care. The dignity, kindness and genuine care with which he was treated meant so much to us as a family, and we will always be extremely grateful for the wonderful care he received.
Our sincere thanks also to all the doctors, nurses and receptionists at Oakleaf Medical Practice, especially Dr Duffy, for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Daddy over the years. We know how much he appreciated the warmth and friendliness he was always shown. Thank you for looking after him so well and for always making him feel so welcome.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Bryson carers and Trust carers who cared for Daddy at home. Your kindness, patience and compassion meant so much, not only to Daddy but to all of us as a family. Knowing that he was being cared for with such dignity and respect brought us great reassurance, and we will always be grateful for everything you did for him.
Our sincere thanks also to the District Nurses for the care, support and compassion they showed to Daddy and to our family. Your help and guidance, particularly when it was needed most, were greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
We would also like to thank all the staff at MediCare Chemist for the kindness, help and support they gave Daddy over the years. Your friendly and caring manner was always appreciated, and we are sincerely grateful for everything you did for him.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped us in so many ways during Daddy’s wake. In particular, thank you to Silver Street for the delivery of food, which was such an incredible help when it was so greatly needed. To everyone who sent or prepared food, your kindness, generosity, time and effort took so much pressure from us as a family and were appreciated more than you will ever know.
A very special and personal thank you to Marie Curie Nurse Majella for her incredible support, kindness and understanding, particularly throughout Daddy’s final months. Her compassion towards Daddy and our family during such a difficult time meant more to us than words can say and will always be remembered.
Our heartfelt thanks to Fr Mongan for the beautiful and personal celebration of Daddy’s Funeral Mass. The warmth and personal touches in his homily captured Daddy so wonderfully and brought great comfort to us as a family. We will always be grateful for the care and thought he put into making Daddy’s Mass so special.
A very special thank you to Sinead Burnside for her beautiful singing and to Isabel for accompanying her with the music. The singing and music were absolutely beautiful and brought everything together so perfectly, making Daddy’s Funeral Mass even more special and memorable for us all.
Finally, our deepest thanks to James, Sean and everyone at Carr Funeral Directors for the exceptional care, dignity and compassion shown to Daddy and to our entire family from beginning to end. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and every detail was handled with such respect and professionalism. The dignity, guidance and support shown to our family throughout everything were outstanding, and we will always be truly grateful for the care they gave Daddy on his final journey.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the gravediggers for preparing Daddy’s final resting place with such care, dignity and respect.
A special thanks to me daddy's sister's kitty majella Frances and marie for giving up there time and helping over the last year his family would of been lost without youse
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a sincere expression of our family’s heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us, attended Daddy’s wake and funeral, sent Mass and sympathy cards, flowers and messages, or showed their kindness in any way. Your support and thoughtfulness during such a difficult time have meant more to us than words can express.
A Holy Mass will be offered for your intentions.
