***ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & MONTH MIND NOTICE***
Daniel (Vincent) O’Kane
Died - 13th September 2026
The family of the late Vincent O’Kane wish to recognise the kindness of all who sympathised with and supported us following the recent loss of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.
We were deeply touched by those who paid their respects, sent Mass and sympathy cards, or shared messages of condolences. The presence of so many people at Vincent’s wake and funeral meant a great deal to us, especially his and Paticia’s former colleagues at the Post Office and from the health service.
We are profoundly thankful to the GPs, nurses and carers at Eastwoodmains Medical Practice in Giffnock and at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow for the exceptional care they gave Vincent during his illness.
A special tribute is due to Fr. John Farren and Fr. Declan McGeehan for their comforting words and prayers during the moving funeral Mass and at Vincent’s graveside, and to Sally Mae Comey for her beautiful singing and music during the service.
We are also grateful to Mr. Kieran Connor and his staff at McClafferty Funeral Directors for the compassion, dignity and professionalism shown to our family throughout this time. We would also like to recognise the help, care and kindness of Kevin Kelly and Paula Marchewa at Co-op Funeral Care in Giffnock, who supported our family when Vincent passed away in Scotland.
The invaluable assistance of everyone at the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in bringing Vincent home will remain with us forever.
Finally, we wish to recognise everyone who helped organise the wake, in particular Alicia O’Kane, Carole Pyke, Lisa McCloskey, Kevin & Paula Pyke, Eilish O’Kane, Tommy & Eamon McGinley, as well as all those who brought food or offered other thoughtful gestures. The generosity of Owen McGarrigle and Tony O’Connor, together with the staff at the Magnet Bar, Culmore, in providing food and refreshments at the wake was especially appreciated.
The overwhelming love and compassion shown by our family, friends, neighbours and wider community have touched us deeply and brought great comfort during this sad time.
As it would be impossible to mention everyone individually, please accept this notice as a heartfelt expression of how much your support has meant to us.
Vincent’s Month Mind Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Muff, on Saturday 17th October 2026 at 6.30pm.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on his soul.
