Eugene Gerard MARTIN

MARTIN Eugene Gerard passed away peacefully on 14th August 2026 at home. Late of Trasnagh, Whiterock. Cherished husband of Moyra, devoted father to Lara, Andrew, Nadine and Philip, father-in-law to Peter and Rionnagh, and a deeply loved grandfather to Linus and Aubrey, Phoenix and Cillian. Much loved brother of Una, Briedhe and Ciaran, and brother-in-law to Sean, Ray and Barbara.

Eugene was the Founding Principal of Ulidia Integrated College, Carrickfergus, where his commitment to integrated education shaped countless lives. He will be buried privately.

A Service of Thanksgiving for Eugene’s life will take place on Thursday 20th August at 2.00pm in Gilmore’s Funeral Church.

Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, to Northern Ireland Hospice and Marie Curie NI, c/o Gilmore Funeral Directors, 1 Killinchy Street, Comber, BT23 5AP, Tel: 02891 872949.

Mum and I were so sorry to hear about the passing of Eugene or Mr Martin as he will always be known to me. As a student at Ulidia l saw so many examples of how kind he was, and my mum and dad worked closely with him during the early days of the creation of the school. Mum and I will always remember Eugenes' kind words during the service for my dad, George, who was also a close friend, who highly respected him and valued his opinions.
Our thoughts are with Moyra, her children & grandchildren at this very sad time.
