Gibson, August 25th, 2026, suddenly at home, Hillside House, Rathfriland Road, Dromara, Hugh Desmond, son of the late Hugh and Mary Elizabeth, dearly loved brother of Ivy and Lily, brother in law of Edward and Edmund, a much loved uncle of Mark, Simon (Eloise) and Colin (Sonya) and great uncle of Bradley, Scott, Bethany, Reuben and Olivia.

House Private. Friends welcome Wednesday to Tuesday 3 - 9 pm.

A Thanksgiving Service will take place at Antrim & Newtownabbey Crematorium on Wednesday, September 2nd at 1.00pm.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Hugh Desmond “Des” Gibson on his passing.

I had the pleasure of selling Des a foal, “Spotlight”, a couple of years ago, and he went on to be a very lucky horse for him. It was always lovely to see the success and enjoyment they shared, and it is a memory I will always associate fondly with Des.

Thinking of all his family and friends at this very sad time.

Dessy was a great friend of ours at the Dublin Horse Show for many years. He had a brilliant knowledge of horses and was a true showman. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
